Freedom Fuels is an innovative market leader, introducing renewable fuels to customers in 2005. We have successfully introduced our ethanol-blended Elite E10 95 Octane and 98 Premium High Octane Unleaded fuels throughout our retail network. Now, with the introduction of Elite Diesel biodiesel blend, we are at the forefront of bringing renewable fuels to Australians.

Freedom Elite 95 Unleaded and Freedom Elite 98 Premium Octane
Both are an internationally accepted blend of fuel with 10% ethanol and 90% petrol. Renewable fuels are the way of the future and ethanol is leading the charge as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Ethanol is used for a variety of purposes, from cosmetics and perfume to fuel additives. Ethanol is the most widely used renewable fuel in the world with trillions of kilometres driven on ethanol-blended fuels worldwide, most notably in Brazil and the USA. Ethanol blends have proven to be safe and reliable.

What are the benefits of using Freedom Elite fuels?
Ethanol is good for the Australian economy as it can be produced from a variety of agricultural sources, including sugarcane and grains. 98 octane fuel is one of the highest octane fuels on the market. The special formulation is designed to ensure the most efficient performance of your car and it keeps your engine cleaner. Freedom Elite 98 Premium High Octane fuel has detergent properties. These properties keep your fuel injection system clean ensuring optimum performance of your car. Adding ethanol to petrol increases the octane level. At a minimum you can expect our Freedom Elite 98 Premium High Octane fuel to have a RON of 98, and a MON of 85. Our Freedom Elite 95 Unleaded has a minimum RON of 95, and a MON of 81.

Can you switch between petrol and Freedom Elite?
Yes you can. All our fuels conform to the National Fuel Quality regulations.

How does Freedom Elite reduce greenhouse emissions?
Ethanol is an oxygenate, which means it will burn more efficiently. The more efficient your car’s engine, the less polluting emissions are produced. Compared to regular unleaded fuel, Freedom Elite 98 Premium High Octane fuel reduces carbon monoxide emissions by up to 30%. Other harmful exhaust emissions such as butadiene and benzene are reduced by 19% and 27% respectively. The American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago credits ethanol-blended fuels with reducing smog emissions in the city by 25% since 1990.

Freedom Elite Diesel
Freedom Fuels’ Elite Diesel is another renewable fuel initiative from Freedom Fuels. Elite Diesel is a premium quality biodiesel blend containing up to 20% pure biodiesel.  It is manufactured from specially imported petroleum diesel, which offers significant advantages when blended with locally produced, high-quality biodiesel.

What is biodiesel all about?
Biodiesel is the name given to a cleaner-burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable sources. Biodiesel itself contains no petroleum but it is commonly sold with varying levels of normal diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It is typically sold as B20 which is a blend of 20% biodiesel with 80% diesel.

What is it made from?
Modern biodiesel is typically made from vegetable oils or animal fats. The characteristics of the base oil product are chemically enhanced by a procedure called transesterification. Other chemistry is used to improve the combustion and viscosity properties resulting in a highly oxygenated biodiesel.

Is it safe?
It is extremely safe because it’s as biodegradable as sugar, 10 times less toxic as table salt and has a substantially higher flash point than petroleum diesel.

Will I get the same performance?
Again, Elite Diesel exceeds the Australian minimum standard for cetane rating (power), so it will power you along at least as well as standard diesel.

What are the benefits of using Elite Diesel?
Using Elite Diesel is good for your vehicle, good for your health, good for the environment and good for Australia’s economy. Elite Diesel:

  • Significantly reduces pollution – decreasing greenhouse and other deadly emissions.
  • Uses a locally grown and manufactured renewable fuel.
  • Meets all the specifications for the Australian diesel standard, protecting your engine and ATO claims where applicable.
  • Strengthens rural economies as well as assisting favourable national trade balance.
  • Improves lubricity, which adds fuel pump life to your engine.
  • Cleans your vehicle’s fuel system to maximize the engine’s power and economy.

Can I switch between normal diesel and Elite Diesel (B20 blend)?
Elite Diesel meets all the stringent Australian standards for diesel, so it is fine to use in place of petroleum diesel. In fact, Elite Diesel will add the benefit of cleaning your diesel vehicle’s fuel system at the same time. This is obviously a great advantage, but it could mean you’ll need to check your fuel filter after the initial few fills. If you have any doubts, talk to your engine manufacturer.
