Greenhouse emissions-
saving strategy
As a substantial investor, supplier and end-user in the Australian petroleum sector, Freedom Fuels respects performance with responsibility, taking a lead role in the development and implementation of effective carbon reduction solutions.
Freedom Elite 95 and Freedom Elite 98
Freedom Elite 95 and Freedom Elite 98 are ethanol-blended unleaded fuels. Both products contain unleaded petrol blended with 10% ethanol – a non-carcinogenic, biodegradable and water-soluble product produced from locally grown crops like sugar cane or grains. Ethanol is the most widely used renewable fuel in the world. Adding ethanol to fuel delivers two benefits to the motorist: it increases the octane rating of the fuel and it reduces the amount of harmful emissions as ethanol adds more oxygen to the fuel. Ethanol used by Freedom Fuels is manufactured locally in Australia, supporting local economic development and offers an alternative to imported fossil fuels. Ethanol is an oxygenate, meaning that it adds oxygen to the fuel mixture. More oxygen helps the fuel burn more completely and reduces the amount of harmful emissions.
Every five litres of Elite 95 saves a whole kilogram of greenhouse emissions. Renewable fuels are a rare opportunity for individuals to make a difference to the progression of climate change.
Freedom Elite 95 has a RON of 95, and Freedom Elite 98 has a RON of 98, but what is an Octane Rating? The octane represents the “antiknock” properties of the fuel. The higher the number, the slower the fuel burns and the less likely your engine will knock or pre-ignite. Unleaded petrol has a RON of 91 so when you select Freedom Elite 98 you are choosing the highest anti-knock performance fuel for your vehicle.
91 Octane Unleaded
91 Octane (Australian Minimum Standard) unleaded petrol is refined to meet the requirements of all spark ignition engines and has a typical octane rating of 92. It is recommended for post 1986 vehicles.
Diesel
Diesel is commonly used as a transport fuel in domestic vehicles, road haulage vehicles, marine, railroad, industrial and mining equipment. It is also used in stationary applications such as for powering turbines and generation equipment. It is typically used in diesel engines operating at speeds greater than 800 rpm.
Diesel is a highly refined, clear fuel with good lubricating properties to maintain protection of fuel pumps and injectors. The cloud point is controlled to ensure operability in known cold locations. Freedom Diesel is an ultra low sulphur diesel and conforms to Australian National Fuels Quality Standards Act 2000 and Australian Standard AS3570 – 1998.
Elite Diesel (Biodiesel blend)
Elite Diesel is our biodiesel-blended fuel that contributes to the reduction of greenhouse emissions through its use of clean burning alternate fuel sources such as vegetable oils, oil seeds or animal fats. Elite Diesel meets all Australian National Fuel Quality Standards Act 2000 and Australian Standard AS3570 – 1998 specifications. Elite Diesel is a light distillate fuel for use in high-speed diesel engines (i.e. those operating at greater than 800 rpm), in services involving frequent and relatively wide variations in loads and speeds. It may be used in automotive (both on and off road), road haulage, railroad mining and industrial applications. Adequate lubricity is maintained to protect fuel pumps and injectors. The cloud point is controlled to ensure operability in known cold locations. As with our Diesel, Elite Diesel is also an Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel.
For every 25 litres of Freedom Elite Diesel we use, we save 12 kg of Greenhouse emissions, or 125 litres of Freedom Elite Diesel neutralizes running the average family fridge for 1 week.
